have you ever met a “girl” daylan?

Most people, have amazing stories of how they got their name. Some people were just named after their father or another sibling, but my story is way different. It may be important or amazing to my mom, but to me it’s just dumb and simple.

My dad wanted to name me Rachael Ann, but my mom wanted a name that most girls didn’t have. My mom mixed her name, Dayna Lynn and came up with Daylan. Since my mom had never heard Daylan before, she had her mind set.

Growing up with this name hasn’t been as fun as my mom probably thought it would be. I’ve gotten teased many times. But all of the teasing has been playful and has never hurt my feelings. Many of my friends have teased me about my name and called me day-long or Dylan. Inconveniences about my name have been just people pronouncing my name wrong. Usally when people find out that Daylan can be a girl makes people surprised.

People also can spell my name wrong. They spell it with a E or sometimes with two Y’s, But enough with the negativity. I also have advantages with my name. Most girls have simple names that have been repeated many times. Most girl have names like Alex, Sarah, Kayla and Gabby.Since my name is very rare it’s actually cool.

I neither like my name nor hate it. I would per fer a more “girl – like” name, but just the fact that it’s unique and my mom mixed it up with hers makes me fill special.
